New Year, Same Unapologetic Woman: Why We’re Not Doing “New Year, New Me”

new year same me, just define feminine

If I hear “New Year, New Me” one more time, I might actually combust. January rolls around and suddenly the world expects women to become brand new creatures - slimmer, softer, quieter, neater, less chaotic, more productive, more grateful, less emotional.

Basically… less human.

Well, not this year.

This year, we’re leaning fully into New Year, Same Unapologetic Woman - the version of you who has survived everything life has thrown at you so far, and is still here, still rising, still laughing, still messy, still powerful.

🚫 Why the “New Me” Narrative Is Utter Rubbish

The idea behind it is simple:
You - as you are - aren’t good enough.

You must reinvent yourself into something more digestible, more palatable, more acceptable.

No.
Absolutely not.
Hard pass.

Improving your life is one thing.
Rebuilding your personality to suit society’s comfort is another.

🔮 This Year’s Real Resolution: Trust Your Intuition

Intuition is wildly underrated. It keeps us safe. It guides us. It whispers truths our brain tries to ignore.

But women are raised to doubt it - constantly.
We’re told we’re dramatic.
Oversensitive.
Misreading things.
Imagining problems.
Or my personal favourite: “just being insecure”.

Actually?
Our intuition is usually bang on.

💥 And Yes - Trust It About Women Too

This part might sting, but it’s necessary.

Women can lovebomb.
Women can manipulate.
Women can use friendship as currency.
Women can attempt to “collaborate” with you while quietly planning how to benefit from your work, contacts, or reputation.

If:

  • A collaboration feels off

  • A friendship feels one-sided

  • Someone’s niceness feels too fast, too intense, too convenient

  • You feel drained after spending time with them

  • You feel obligated, pressured, or uncomfortable

Your intuition is trying to save you.

Ask yourself:
What’s the worst that could happen if you trust your gut?
They’re upset for five minutes?
They sulk?
They call you “cold” or “difficult”?

OR…

You ignore your instincts and fall into the same pattern again, losing energy, time, peace, and maybe even opportunities?

Choose the outcome where you don’t lose yourself.

✊ 2025 Is the Year of Boundary-Setting Without Apology

You don’t owe anyone access to you.
Not your time.
Not your emotional labour.
Not your skill.
Not your platform.
Not your peace.

If someone feels entitled to any of those… they don’t deserve them.

🌟 New Year, Same Woman - But Louder, Braver, Sharper

This year, embrace:

  • Your intuition

  • Your boundaries

  • Your chaotic ADHD brilliance

  • Your feminist rage

  • Your healing

  • Your softness AND your fire

  • Your honesty

  • Your unapologetic self

No more shrinking.
No more pleasing people who wouldn’t lift a finger for you.
No more ignoring red flags because someone seems “nice”.

This is the year you trust yourself.

The world can adjust accordingly.
