Let’s Talk About Sensory Smart® PJs – And the Smearing Issue We’re Too Afraid to Mention

Alright, let’s get real for a moment, mamas. You know that moment when you wake up at 4am and, instead of the sweet sound of your child softly snoring, you’re greeted with the unmistakable smell of… well, you know. Fecal art—a masterpiece that’s somehow managed to decorate every inch of your child’s room, their bed, and, worst of all, their body. And the worst part? You’re not alone. This is the secret we don’t talk about enough: the smearing issue. The one that makes you want to crawl under your duvet and pretend it’s a nightmare.

But it’s not a nightmare. It’s your reality. And it’s time to stop acting like it’s some taboo we shouldn’t address.

I’ll tell you a little story. Picture this: I’m at home, desperately trying to hold it together, when I reach out to the health visitor. I’m hopeful, ready for some advice or support. And what do I get? "Just tape the nappy together." Tape. The. Nappy. Together. Seriously? That’s the advice? I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry (I think I did both).

No one tells you that these issues are a real struggle for so many of us. It’s rarely spoken about, and if it is, it’s whispered in hushed tones like it’s some kind of shameful secret. But guess what? It’s not. It’s a reality for many of us, and it's about time we started talking about it.

And now here’s where I get serious. As much as it’s easier to ignore or joke about it, not addressing it is doing our kids a disservice. We need to raise awareness around these issues, because, frankly, the scientists at the top haven’t figured it all out yet. They’re too busy working on other things, leaving us to deal with the aftermath of “artwork” at 4am.

That’s where my Sensory Smart® PJs come in. After a particularly frustrating night of well, you know, I thought, “Enough is enough. I can’t keep cleaning this up every day.” So, I designed these PJs, which are made from bamboo cotton and designed to be sensory-friendly (because, let’s face it, nothing about the smearing experience is ever sensory-friendly). These PJs are made with a back zip—no more Houdini-style escapes—and they stay on, meaning no more 4am Picasso pieces that you’d rather forget.

Let’s talk about designs, too. Have you seen the same boring, generic nightwear options out there? You know, the ones that scream, “I give up on life”? Well, I wanted to create something fun and inclusive, not just functional. So, my Sensory Smart® PJs come in cool designs like tractors, trains, space, and Highland cows (because, why not?). They’re stylish, they’re practical, and they make bedtime a little more fun—even if it’s 4am and you’re covered in… you get the picture.

The goal is simple: let’s get through this together. I want to make sure your little one is comfortable and safe, and if my Sensory Smart® PJs can help eliminate the chaos and confusion around bedtime, then I’ve done my job. And let’s hope that, one day, we won’t need them anymore. We can leave the smearing in the past (and hopefully in the hands of the scientists who can sort this out). But until then, let’s protect our kids from that mess, shall we?

Because, let’s be honest: we’ve all had enough of cleaning up the “artwork,” haven’t we?
